I love hearing from Field Notes readers. Feel free to email me through the Contact page of this website.  Here are some comments about the book sent to me via email:

Just wanted to let you know that I gave my mom (who does not typically read for pleasure) a copy of Field Notes because I thought she would get a lot out of it for many reasons. I was right! Yesterday I got this text from her: “Not too many books have brought me to tears! So well written. You would be proud of me, sitting in my comfy chair, reading.”

Sara, the book so well written, and true to you and your experiences.

What a terrific book this is. I like the softness of the prose yet it is insightful and thought provoking.

I read your book a couple of months ago and wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it. It is beautiful and thoughtfully written, and I was surprised at some of the similarities in our lives.

I just finished reading your book, with plans to dive into it again and again. I loved each story, and read most through tears. You have captured the essence of what I know to be the true spirit of rural Nova Scotia. Thank you for sharing your stories, and for representing Nova Scotia so beautifully.

I’ve just finished reading Field Notes (the book), and I loved it. I live most of the year in Ontario, but I spend part of each summer on Pugwash Point Road. Your essays and memories of The Point were so evocative of that place, one of my favourite places on earth.

Thank you! These comments fill my heart with joy.
